About Josh

You were meant to build.

Josh Aragon

Josh Aragon has spent thirty years building, fixing, and transforming the systems companies run on, and the companies themselves. In technology since 1996 and coaching organizations since 1999, across twelve industries: banking, insurance, healthcare, aviation, automotive, manufacturing, government, media, telecommunications, technology, hospitality, and retail. The record: more than sixty large-scale launches of new ways of working, from single programs to transformations spanning thousands of people, and over sixteen thousand leaders and practitioners trained or certified across North America, Europe, and Asia, including two of the largest certification classes ever run in his field. He held the highest trainer certification his discipline offered, taught the people who now teach it, and helped develop the courses and exams that certify the trainers themselves.

He has also built from the owner's chair. A founder since 1996, he has started more than a dozen businesses along the way, and took two transformation consulting firms past a million dollars in revenue, one co-founded with a colleague, one built on his own. Across all of it, enterprise and small alike, he kept meeting the same pattern: businesses failing or stalling for the same predictable reasons, with no standard anywhere for how to build one.

That conviction became the Small Business Standard™, the standards and certification framework he founded and stewards. And because the leader is a system too, he built the Personal Operating Standard™, a life planning and operating system for people who are done living someone else's priorities. He lives in Colorado with his family, and, true to form, does his best thinking after nine at night.

Leading the Transformation Nobody Trained You For

The twelve disciplines from Everyone Assumed You Knew, for leadership teams in the middle of a change that assumed they knew, including the one arriving right now: AI.

For founders

Building a Small Business to a Standard

Why most small businesses fail or stall for the same predictable reasons, and what it looks like to build to a real bar with real gates instead.

For everyone

Operating a Life on Purpose

The leaders learn to run the company on purpose and keep running themselves by accident. What a personal operating standard looks like, and why the calendar comes first.

Beyond the books

Two standards Josh built.

The pattern behind all of it: things fail or stall for predictable reasons when nobody defines the standard. So he built two.

Small Business Standard™

For founders and the businesses they're building.

Small business is the only industry without a standard for how to build one. That's why most fail or stall for the same predictable reasons. The Standard exists to end the pattern, and give every founder real options for what comes next.

Personal Operating Standard™

For the person doing the building.

Stop living someone else's priorities. A life planning and performance system for people who are done running themselves by accident, built around how you actually operate.
